The National Probation Service - West Yorkshire
Could you supervise offenders doing Unpaid Work?
West Yorkshire Probation Board is interested in hearing from voluntary charitable groups or Social Enterprises in the Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield districts who would be able to supervise groups of offenders on Unpaid Work requirements made by the courts.
What’s in it for you?
- You would have a regular supply of teams of workers who could help you to achieve your charitable aim.
- The team will all have received a Health and Safety input.
- You would receive training, advice and support in carrying out this work to the required standard.
- You would have the pleasure of seeing offenders develop confidence and skills which could enhance their employability and thereby reduce the risk of them reoffending.
- You would receive payment in accordance with the number of offenders supervised.
What’s in it for us?
- It is important to us that offenders link in with their local communities to develop their awareness and avoid social exclusion.
- Partnership working enhances the Probation Service’s links with the local community and promotes our visibility.
- These partnerships enable Probation staff to concentrate their work on the higher risk cases for which they have been trained.
We currently have successful partnerships with a variety of voluntary and charitable organisations, Help the Aged, St Vincent de Paul, YMCA, the Able Project but are looking to expand our partnership work in the Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield districts.
If you think your organisation could work in partnership with the Probation Service to supervise offenders on unpaid work then you may be interested in attending a briefing day to be held at the National Children's Centre, Brian Jackson House, New North Parade, Huddersfield HD1 5JP on Monday 1st December 2008 10am-12pm..
Please complete the form below to book your place at the briefing event or contact Jerry Kyle, Unpaid Work Development Manager, on 01924 885295 for further information.
