Leeds City Square
Leeds is a dynamic and thriving city in the heart of West Yorkshire. Employment opportunities have increased through the opening of new stores, bars and restaurants; the city’s architecture has been transformed through the regeneration of the Leeds canal basin; old warehouses have been turned into city centre flats. In short, Leeds is a city which is enjoying economic growth.

Due to the size of its population and geographical spread, all LS postcodes and some surrounding suburbs are served by two District Probation Offices. One is on Wellington Street, close to the city centre, serving the area to the west of the city centre. The other is on York Road, serving the area to the east. We also have teams based in both Crown and Magistrates courts in Leeds. Each Probation Office is the base for offender management and intervention activities, delivered through teams which comprise qualified and dedicated staff. Offenders receive a range of supportive interventions aimed at tackling their offending behaviour and minimising the harm that they cause to their communities. Staff from both offices work closely with the Police to target and rehabilitate those offenders who present the highest risk of re-offending.

Through Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements, we work with the Police and a number of agencies to assess and develop plans to mitigate risks posed by the most dangerous. Probation is not just about the offender. An important aspect of our service is to support victims of serious violent or sexual offences. We have a specific role in supporting victims of domestic violence where the offender is under our supervision.

This service and the Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements help to ensure that the needs of victims are central to our planning of an offender's supervision. They also provide an opportunity for the views of victims to be considered at parole hearings or prior to an offender's release from prison.
