Bradford District

The Bradford district has a population of nearly 500,000 people, of whom around 20% are minority ethnic communities. Bradford's history as a flourishing Victorian woollen centre is still visible through its historic buildings, although the city is undergoing a process of regeneration. The Alhambra Theatre, Saltaire village, and the National Museum of Film, Photography & TV are prominent features in Bradford. Keighley boasts the Keighley/Worth Valley Steam Railway, Cliffe Castle and the Bronte country.

The Bradford district is served by five probation centres, four of which are in Bradford and one in Keighley.

The Fraternal House office in Bradford is the district head office and houses the district Management Unit. This consists of the offices of the Assistant Chief Officer, Area Manager and two Support Services Managers. Also located in the building are the Programmes Team, the Community Payback Team and one Offender Management Unit.

The City Courts office is close to the Magistrates' Court. The six Offender Management Units based here carry out the bulk of our supervision of offenders in the community. A Support Services Manager is also located at City Courts.

Another Probation Team is co-located in the city with Turning Point, a partner agency, and together they administer Drug Rehabilitation Requirements.

The Keighley Office is based in the town centre and houses one Offender Management Unit. The staff supervise offenders who are either on Community Orders or on their release from prison.
