Support for Women
We have two projects running in West Yorkshire to support women who have offended or who may be at risk of offending.
Evolve is a project based in Calderdale Women’s Centre and works across Calderdale and Kirklees. The Together Women Project (TWP) covers Leeds and Bradford.
These projects offers individual, tailor-made support packages to women to help build confidence, self esteem and address their many and diverse needs. The projects offer support with:
- accommodation
- education, training and employment
- health
- drugs and alcohol
- finance, benefit and debt
- children and family issues
- there is also a free and confidential counselling service.
The projects aim to reduce the likelihood of re-offending and the impact on children, families and the wider community. They target groups of women who are the most vulnerable, disadvantaged and marginalised women at risk of offending and women offenders.
In May 2009 we started supervising up to 50% of our female caseload at the women's projects. We have done this by basing two probation Offender Managers at each project.
